latte shmatte

As if I didn't have enough to clean up with 'the cat accident' , the nescafe decided to fly out of the cupboard while I was about to fix a refreshing beverage.

My biggest fear was that my beautiful biscuit- colored sink would turn mocha latte brown.

The coffee powder rinsed right out of the sink, and within minutes I was slurping down the iced coffee.

think twice

I couldn't wait for the recipe. While whipping up my best effort, the honey had an unfortunate encounter with the microwave.

it's hard to be humble

I Have a cutter that takes the worry and work out of making these chenille blankets. The problem wasn't with the cutter...it was my cocky pride!!! I was more than half done and thinking how cute the fabric was and what a good job I had done matching the colors and how the new parents were going to love it, and how great my cutter was working...ooops....damn!!!! a two foot rip through the bottom layer.
The new baby is getting cash

failed attempt

Barbara asked me to make three summer nighties for Maria. It was a daunting task, simply because I'm not a good seamstress. But, bravely, I took it on.
I finished laying out the pattern, cutting, and marking the fabric. While sewing the facing onto the armholes, it occured to me, "I haven't had to rip out anything (common for me) yet." Two seconds later it hit me...I forgot the sleeve ruffle! That's when I began to doubt myself. Did I attach the wrong lace? Is it going to be too long? Did I use the wrong color thread? And then there was the bottom ruffle fiasco! I finished the little nightie and am vowing never to attempt another garment.
I never said I was a good mother.

dee-lete

Jerry rescued an antique rocker that was in desperate need of repair. He did hours of research on the process of caning . He ordered the supplies he needed, took some "before" photos of the chair and was all set to start the transformation. While working on the chair he mentioned several times how time consuming and tedious the art of caning is, and that he would probably never tackle it again. He finished the chair and was all set to send the before and after photos to "whom it may concern"....
guess who had deleted the "before" pictures?
I really do feel terrible about it.

take your time

I had a merchandise credit card since Christmas and had the time to do some serious shopping, and pick out just the right thing.

I slipped into a parking spot and headed for JCPenney. I was uncharacteristically methodical as I selected the items I wanted to try on.

  • pants that would go with shirts purchased last year
  • tops that would match skirts and pants in my closet
  • several sizes of the same style...to cut down on time and energy spent dressing and undressing

It worked for awhile.

I must have dressed and undressed seven times...but it was still OK.

I meandered over to the shoes...chatted with a friend, and strolled over to the purses and jewelry...tried on and dropped several pairs of earrings...still nothing.

Maybe something for Jerry...I quickly squelched that notion. I spied a pair of pants in the petite department and walked back to the fitting room and picked up a few more pairs... as long as I was disrobing again.

After about two hours of unfettered shopping I finally settled on a pair of pants.

I waited in line a few minutes...she put the pants in a bag...I gave her the merchandise card and she said with a you-poor-thing smile,

"This particular card is for "Younkers".

This old poem came to mind after I had finished this little purse.

oh deer!

Last night while driving home from a birthday dinner, listening intently to Rusty Humphries talking to Jack Cashill about a most interesting topic, three deer appeared right before my eyes. I hit one of them in the rump, hopefully, I got the worst end of the deal. Last time I hit something it was devastating to all concerned. Next time I'll follow my own advise...Ask St. Francis to keep the animals off the road while I'm driving.

lyrics tell all

We have at least three umbrellas....so naturally they were all left at home while I spent a rainy Monday looking and feeling like a drowned rat.

Shoe fly...

1. Ordered 3 pairs of shoes (free shipping)...checked to make sure they could be returned to the store.

2. It was hard but finally decided to keep the red ones.

3. Boxed the other two pairs up and set them aside to return.

Three months pass...

4. Phone rings..."I'm cleaning the garage and found two pair of shoes." he says.

"What size?" I enquire.

"8½, they're brand new."

"Bring them in."

Even I can't figure this one out.

$4 is $4

Not until I had gotten into bed, did I realize I had forgotten to use my coupon...no wonder I can't sleep at night!

another grocery store incident

While shopping for groceries with my usual side kicks, I picked out a nice half watermelon, and was gleefully showing it off to them, when all of a sudden it flew out of my hands onto the floor...thud!

Crazy quilt indeed!

It took about an hour to arrange these squares just the way I wanted them for a quilt I had started several days ago.

I started sewing them together but something else came up (phone probably) and I wasn't able to get back to it....

until this morning...a southerly wind had blown up during the night and confounded all my diligent fussing.

yeeeouch

I was merrily putting my groceries into the seat part of the shopping cart, when all of a sudden in the cookie aisle, a 28 0z. can of tomato sauce tumbles from the front of the cart and hits the instep of my right foot... man did it hurt!
Note to self: put up the plastic seat dealy before loading cart.

yer dum

I always put my camera in my pocket or purse before I leave home...except today. I was too focused on the short stack I was going to have for breakfast after I picked up my date from RJ Sports. Later, on my way down Central Entrance I spied an armada of sail boats and tall ships out in the harbor.....then I remembered...oh yeah, today is THE DAY! I was so disgusted with myself for not grabbing my camera this morning...I even tried to capture the scene with my phone...forget it. I borrowed his photo from flickr.

walnuts?

I was telling Mary how thrilled (it doesn't take much) I was to finally find Walnut chocolate chip cookie mix. I took the tube out of the fridge and she goes "It says oatmeal chocolate chip cookies".
She thinks maybe I dreamed the walnuts ...I can only hope so.

typical

Naturally, I need special socks to celebrate our country's independence. So I spend a few minutes finding the most suitable style in my size, put them in my cart, take them home, next day I notice...

kids socks.
